ADHD & Your Kid

Children diagnosed with ADHD are incredibly resilient and demonstrate a unique ability to navigate the world in their own way. Witnessing their creativity, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills is very inspiring.

As a therapist and parent, I love working with children diagnosed with ADHD. I provide a safe place to share anything from home life, school, friends, activities, life challenges, favorite toys, Squishmallows, Cats vs. Pickles, sensory toys, pets, and more! We also play, learn, laugh, and I provide them space to move when necessary physically.

I bring kindness, empathy, compassion, patience, various interventions, approaches, and other human characteristics to the therapeutic relationship. A sense of humor is one of the most important human characteristics I bring to my work. Laughter and playfulness can be incredibly therapeutic and help children feel more comfortable. It is essential to meet each child where they are and create an accepting space to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors without fear of judgment or criticism. I do not believe in "good” or "bad" kids. What we perceive as "bad" behavior could be emotional dysregulation or the inability to communicate verbally. Other helpful interventions I include are play therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and parent training. I enjoy thinking outside the box and exploring new interventions and approaches to help them reach their full potential to thrive at home, school, and in social situations.

Dear Parents,

I understand that receiving a diagnosis of ADHD for your child can be overwhelming and challenging. I strive to be empathetic, patient, and non-judgmental and work hard to build a solid alliance with you. I also want to assure you that you are not alone and that many resources and strategies are available to support you and your child. As parents, you play a vital role in helping your child succeed. We can discuss creating an environment that promotes healthy habits and positive behavior by providing structure (without rigidity), consistency, and positive reinforcement.

Building relationships with you and setting up a holistic support system for your child is essential to successful treatment. Let me not forget to mention that practicing self-care and seeking your own support can help you manage parenting challenges and thrive.
